ArianeCorp was founded in Singapore in December 1984 as Vikay Industrial Limited. The company's core business was in the marketing and manufacture of Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD) and electronics products under the "Vikay" brand. The company also produced customised Liquid Crystal Displays and LCD modules (LCM) for customers in the USA, Europe and Asia. In July 2004, the Group acquired an integrated 11,119km two-core high bandwidth fibre optic network covering 13 provinces and all principal cities in eastern China. With this, the Group switched its principal activity to that of acting as an independent provider of ultra high-capacity data networks to service providers and large business users in China's telecoms and data markets through optical networks. The acquisition of a Pan-China fibre network business heralded ArianeCorp's entry into the telecommunications industry. The Pan-China network is inter-connected with global networks of Global Crossing to USA. The trunk network is also inter-connected with metropolitan area networks within the same ducting system to reach target customers in main business and industrial centres of 163 cities in China. The Group was subsequently renamed ArianeCorp Limited in August 2004. In August 2006, ArianeCorp acquired CarrierNet Corporation Limited, a provider of a spectrum of telephony services ranging from prepaid communications services to wholesale voice traffic. With the acquisition, the Group gained access to CarrierNet's global Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) network as well as the products and services offered by CarrierNet including its own patented VOIP service, "VoiceBB", as well as wholesale carrier, retail international direct dial and global calling card products and services. Change of name: CarrierNet Global Ltd to Polaris Ltd. Trading under the new name wef 3 May 2013.
